Enlarging Images for Printing with Photoshop Part 1

Photoshop is the ideal tool for enlarging your image files and get them ready for printing. Ideally you don’t want to have to enlarge an image file but you may find that not all your images are large enough for the size you want. When ordering your fine art paper prints or canvas from us, if your image is not large enough you will likely get a message indicating that your file is too small for the size you selected to print. There is a way around this and that is to increase the resolution and size of the image. Results are going to be mixed dependent on how extreme you take the enlarging of the image.

4 New Canvas Backing Options

We have updated the finishing options for the back of the canvas prints which are available. No longer are we offering the Tyvek backings. Instead all canvas prints by default will receive a white or black acid free mat board backing. You can also choose to upgrade the hanging hardware to a wire hanger versus the default d-ring hanger. One of the first questions I received when we did this was why is it so important to be concerned with what the back of the canvas looks like when so many other companies that offer canvas prints don’t seem to give it much attention. Plus who looks at the back of the canvas print? Those are valid questions and my answer is that even the smallest details cannot be overlooked when quality is important. Yes, most people probably don’t give the backings of a canvas print much attention but since so many of our customers place orders to be sent to their own customers we recognize that craftsmanship of the stretched canvas prints is a direct reflection on them just as much as ourselves.

Introducing Hahnemühle Torchon Fine Art Paper

Right now this has got to be my favorite paper. To top it off, it’s by Hahnemuhle, the leader in museum and gallery grade fine art papers for giclee prints. Hahnemuhle’s Torchon is a 285 gsm acid free fine art paper with a parchment-like feel. While it especially suits reproductions of oils, watercolor and pastel mediums, printed photos show an incredible amount of accurate detail and color. The printed side of this paper has been specially coated for excellent image sharpness and optimum color graduation. The coating also offers a very high level of water resistance. For the rest of this week we will be offering this paper at a special introductory price for select sizes so that you can test it out yourself.
