What is Dibond®?

Dibond® is a brand name for a type of aluminum composite panel (ACP) that consists of three layers:

  • Two outer sheets of aluminum (usually 0.012″ or about 0.3mm thick)
  • A solid polyethylene (plastic) core in the middle

This sandwich-like construction gives Dibond several desirable properties:

  • Lightweight but rigid – Much lighter than solid aluminum or wood, yet still very stiff and durable.
  • Weather-resistant – Doesn’t rust or degrade easily, making it ideal for outdoor use.
  • Smooth surface – Excellent for printing high-resolution graphics directly.
  • Dimensional stability – Resistant to warping, bending, or expansion from heat and humidity.
  • Long-lasting – Can last many years even in outdoor or harsh environments.

Dibond® is widely used for

  • Signs and displays – Especially for outdoor signage, real estate signs, museum displays, and trade show graphics.
  • Photographic and fine art mounting – Frequently used by artists and photographers for a sleek, modern presentation.
  • Architectural cladding – Sometimes used on building facades or interiors.
  • Retail and POP displays – Offers a premium, durable look for point-of-purchase advertising.
