I have been professionally selling art for the last five years from booths to a 7,000 square foot gallery floor. The mentors I have come with 20 years of selling art at booths and 10 years at selling art in the gallery of luxury cruise ships. For over 12 years, I have been in broadcast advertising sales. Survey: Where Do You Mostly Sell Prints

Artists and fine art photographers are always asking us for tips to help them sell more of their prints. We find that most are selling their prints at either events, sometimes known as popups in their local art community but that could include such things as “First Fridays” which is an art and food even extravaganza that happens at various venues in our local market or it could be a non-art related overall but in which you were able to still get a table to showcase your work. The other choices are self explanatory.

Typoraphy Canvas How to Video

With Valentine’s Day right a little less than 4 weeks away now is the time to come up with something unique. One way to do this is via a typography print. A few days ago I wrote about seeing canvas prints in retail locations. This includes both high end home decor stores like Z Gallerie to even more mainstream chains you might be familiar with which carry cheap canvas prints made in China. While the designs I have seen in both types of places were very diverse, I myself would never buy one. Instead I would design one myself then go to a place like FinerWorks to take care of the printing and production.

Behind the Scenes at FinerWorks

It’s always flattering when a customer visits our production facility and asks to see what we do in the back. Usually these are local customers which only make up a small percentage of our business but we have to kindly explain that we don’t normally provide access to our production area. Not that we have any super-duper trade secrets. Except for a few things, how we process and ship orders of prints on canvas and fine art papers is no grand surprise. But since we provides order fulfillment services for both individuals in the visual arts industry as well as a number of gallery websites we try keep a certain level of secrecy since some of these clients do not want it to get out that we do the printing for them. Out of respect for their wishes we keep the production area sealed off from the general public. But that does not mean we can’t give you a sneak peak behind the scenes and meet some of our staff. Continue on to see some quick snapshots I took of what we do at FinerWorks.
