Interactive Video – Selling My Prints Inventory

Setting up prints to sell in your galleries is a free service that we offer. Because it is free we do not really provide any one on one support by phone. Only online or by e-mail. If you do call, you will politely be directed to a page such as this or our help page by one of our phone customer service reps. Fortunately the process is not as difficult as it might seem. Just understand that you will need an active PayPal account and any prints you sell will not automatically be sent to us to print. You will need to turn around and place an order with us if you want us to ship it to your buyer. The reason for this at this time is some of our artists and photographers do indeed keep a physical inventory of their prints and want to ship their prints to their customers themselves. Our goal is to in the future make this more turnkey but for now we have a new interactive video which shows how to setup your virtual prints inventory. Click the full-screen icon when video starts for the interactive menu.

New Float Mount Hanging Hardware

We have modified the float mount option. Wooden spacers are adhered to the back of the print which appear to offset your print from the wall by about a half inch making it look as if the print is floating on the wall. This gives your display a more contemporary look. A D-ring hanger will be screwed onto the top brace so you can easily hang it on a hook or nail.

New Options for Canvas Prints

This year we plan on introducing some new products we believe will be of interest to artists and photographers. We also plan on adding new options to our existing line of products. First checkout a brief video in which we preview a new type of mounted canvas print which will be offered in a few days called a resin coated canvas print.

Second, we are always looking to both improve the quality and presentation of our print products we make for you. Therefore we have decided to eliminate the sawtooth hanger option for more professional hanging options as has been requested quite often. This means we are now offering three new hanging hardware choices from which you can choose. Yes, it is a little more work to add then a sawtooth hanger but this year our goal is to continue to provide you canvas prints made of quality materials with an eye toward a more refined canvas print. Checkout the brief video showing you the resin coated canvas prints then see what we now offer for all stretched canvas prints.

Create a Virtual Inventory of Prints

We are excited to be announcing an upgraded feature for account holders which we now refer to as My Prints Inventory. This allows you to setup giclee prints and fine art cards then store them within your account for easy re-ordering via an Add to Cart button. It’s especially useful if you have your own art based business and find yourself frequently re-ordering the same prints over and over again. Rather than go through the entire process of setting up a print, selecting the media, style and size each time you need to order, instead you can simply add it to your shopping cart from your virtual inventory and checkout. If you have a gallery level account, it also works in conjunction with your PayPal shopping cart so that you can manage those prints and cards you want to post for sale within any of your galleries.

New Starter Kit

The new starter kit is now available. Its a replacement to our bound sample booklet but also includes a calibration print and samples of our folded cards. Every day we have new customers contacting us asking where to begin, can they get some samples of the media we produce and how to know if their prints will look the way they see their image on their screen.

The Paper with Many Names

One of the most popular paper has been our “Fine Art” paper, originally known as Epson Somerset Velvet. We designate it as simply Fine Art paper because it was one of the first papers we introduced back when most of our focus had been printing on canvas. Initially I had some reservations on just labeling it Fine Art Paper since I was worried it would cause some confusion since FinerWorks was planning on offering a number of different fine art papers with their own unique names. Now we have Archival Matte Paper, Premium Giclee, Cotton Etching, and more. All have their unique properties which make them special. Likely we will be adding new ones in the future as well but it should be made clear that all of these are fine art papers specially made to produce giclee prints for artists and fine art photographers. Going back to the original Fine Art paper, which still is my personal favorite, I think it is time we let you in on a fun little secret about that particular paper.

New Fredrix Canvas

FinerWorks is happy to announce an upgrade in quality without an upgrade in cost. We are replacing our original matte canvas with a new OBA free canvas by Fredrix. If you are an artist you know Fredrix. Fredrix, owned by Tara Materials, Inc, is a big name in the art supplies industry providing artists blank canvas and stretcher bars. Obviously as one of the leaders in the fine art industry when many artists think of blank canvas they also think of Fredrix.

New Fine Art Folded Greeting Cards

We are getting into custom card business. If you have used FinerWorks for sometime you may be familiar with the glossy photo folded cards we have offered through our partner lab in the past. Well now we have something better. We have discontinued those glossy cards for what we think is more in line with the needs of both artists and fine art photographers. These press printed cards are currently available in two fine art paper card stock, both with a matte surface. One has an a fine art linen texture and the other is a white matte paper. Starting at $2.75 for a 3 1/2 x 5, they are affordable for even the reseller. We ship them direct from our San Antonio fine art printing facility rather than our partner lab. This usually means a quicker turnaround and no separate shipping when you also order a print on canvas or fine art paper.

We just made the quick checkout process a little quicker for those that choose to take advantage of it. Ordering your prints through FinerWorks does not require you to have an account but it is definitely recommended if you order prints frequently. One of the features many of our artists with accounts take advantage of is the Quick Checkout feature in their account. It allows storing of your name and address so you don’t have to retype it in each time you order.

We’ve Moved

FinerWorks has moved to a new location. It definitely was not without its ability to frazzle some of us since change can be hard but the dust is finally starting to settle and orders are getting out the door. There is nothing like seeing members of our team, with myself included, running around trying to find things like shipping supplies and wonder if we’re are out of stock or if they are tucked away behind some crate or piece of equipment.
