Color Perceptions and Our Mind

I trust color about as much as I trust the news to get every story right the first time. Ironically I saw something in the news which was very interesting about a blue and black dress that many people were seeing as white and gold. It was an interesting phenomena. There were a number of theories but it seemed likely to stem from how the eye registers colors with different people. It reminded me on an instance in which an image we printed on canvas for a customer was not looking correct but it turned out it was printing exactly as she intended but we were not seeing it.

New Float Mount Hanging Hardware

We have modified the float mount option. Wooden spacers are adhered to the back of the print which appear to offset your print from the wall by about a half inch making it look as if the print is floating on the wall. This gives your display a more contemporary look. A D-ring hanger will be screwed onto the top brace so you can easily hang it on a hook or nail.

3 Aspects Affecting Printing on Fine Art Papers

We are always asked which paper is the best to choose. I usually answer that people should try the different papers and decide on their own which they believe best compliments their artwork. But I also need to clarify not all paper is going to appear to be the same as is obvious if you have ordered one of our starter kits which includes a sampling of the different paper types we print offer. There are three areas where I believe the properties of the paper can have a big impact on the quality of the image being printed: paper texture, paper absorption level and paper brightness.

Typoraphy Canvas How to Video

With Valentine’s Day right a little less than 4 weeks away now is the time to come up with something unique. One way to do this is via a typography print. A few days ago I wrote about seeing canvas prints in retail locations. This includes both high end home decor stores like Z Gallerie to even more mainstream chains you might be familiar with which carry cheap canvas prints made in China. While the designs I have seen in both types of places were very diverse, I myself would never buy one. Instead I would design one myself then go to a place like FinerWorks to take care of the printing and production.

New Options for Canvas Prints

This year we plan on introducing some new products we believe will be of interest to artists and photographers. We also plan on adding new options to our existing line of products. First checkout a brief video in which we preview a new type of mounted canvas print which will be offered in a few days called a resin coated canvas print.

Second, we are always looking to both improve the quality and presentation of our print products we make for you. Therefore we have decided to eliminate the sawtooth hanger option for more professional hanging options as has been requested quite often. This means we are now offering three new hanging hardware choices from which you can choose. Yes, it is a little more work to add then a sawtooth hanger but this year our goal is to continue to provide you canvas prints made of quality materials with an eye toward a more refined canvas print. Checkout the brief video showing you the resin coated canvas prints then see what we now offer for all stretched canvas prints.

Choosing a Canvas Mounting Style

One of the things that people appreciate the most about their images printed on canvas is the texture. The canvas texture alone can turn a typical photo into both a conversation piece and work of art. Art and photos printed onto canvas have even been mistaken for original paintings due to the organic feel and look. Since we offer a number of different styles ranging from artboard mounted prints to stretched and mounted prints we are frequently asked which canvas style should be chosen.

Create a Virtual Inventory of Prints

We are excited to be announcing an upgraded feature for account holders which we now refer to as My Prints Inventory. This allows you to setup giclee prints and fine art cards then store them within your account for easy re-ordering via an Add to Cart button. It’s especially useful if you have your own art based business and find yourself frequently re-ordering the same prints over and over again. Rather than go through the entire process of setting up a print, selecting the media, style and size each time you need to order, instead you can simply add it to your shopping cart from your virtual inventory and checkout. If you have a gallery level account, it also works in conjunction with your PayPal shopping cart so that you can manage those prints and cards you want to post for sale within any of your galleries.

Mistakes to Avoid in Mounting Canvas Giclee Prints

Often our customers like to stretch and mount their canvas giclee prints themselves. Sometimes it may be because they like to apply paint or gel texture to their prints before they are stretched and mounted. Other times artists or even photographers simply like to build their own custom stretcher frames. Whatever the reason there are a couple of mistakes we occasionally see. Using a couple fictitious scenarios, Bob an artist loves to stretch and mount his canvas prints. Unfortunately Bob was like me and spent too much time drawing pictures in math class and not paying attention to the lessons.
